UPCOMING - Lama Marut Public Talks:

May 19, 2013 - Webinar - Practical Buddhism (Sunday morning gathering)

In this, the last of three global internet talks, Lama Marut addresses the question of how we can make the spiritual teachings of Buddhism accessible to people in the modern world — Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike.  Specific topics will include:
–  translating teachings into ordinary English and avoiding foreign, esoteric, and overly sectarian terminology
–  applying teachings to every aspect of our everyday lives and not keeping them quarantined from the reality we live in
–  acknowledging the equality of men and women and emphasizing a householder rather than a monastic orientation
–  centering our practice on the here and now rather than fixating on the supernatural or other-worldly goals
–  taking personal responsibility for our own practice and for our relationship with our teachers
